At Glow Project, we believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to succeed in an environment where they feel safe, understood and valued.

We provide personalised alternative education and therapeutic support for children and young people who may struggle to access mainstream education due to neurodiversity, anxiety, trauma, Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), or other additional needs.

Our approach is centred around building trust, confidence and meaningful relationships, recognising that emotional wellbeing is the foundation for successful learning.

We recognise that traditional educational settings do not work for every child. Through a neurodiversity-informed approach, we focus on building confidence, developing life skills, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping young people re-engage with learning at their own pace.

We work collaboratively with young people, families, schools and professionals to create personalised pathways that support positive outcomes, independence and future aspirations.

Our commitment is simple: To help every young person feel safe, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Meet The Founder

Hi, I'm Josie Marie Henson, founder of Glow Project.

My journey into alternative education began through my own lived experience as both a parent and someone with ADHD.

For over 22 years, I have built and managed a successful hair, beauty and aesthetics business. Throughout that time, I have had the privilege of working with children, young people and adults from all walks of life, including many individuals with neurodiversity and disabilities.

I have always been passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive environment where people feel valued, understood and able to grow in confidence.

Alongside my professional experience, My professional qualifications include:

• Education and Training
• Hair and Beauty
• Advanced Aesthetic Treatments
• Understanding Autism
• Understanding Learning Disabilities

• Designated Safeguarding Lead

• First aid

• Enhanced DBS

I am committed to continually developing my knowledge to ensure I provide the highest standard of support for the young people and families I work alongside.

The inspiration behind Glow Project is deeply personal.

As a child, I often found learning difficult and never truly felt that I fitted into the traditional education system. Years later, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which helped me understand many of the challenges I had experienced growing up and gave me a new perspective on the importance of recognising and embracing neurodiversity.

When my own son began experiencing school refusal and the challenges of navigating education as a neurodivergent young person, I found myself facing many of the same emotions that countless families experience today.

I experienced first-hand how overwhelming it can be to find the right support and how important it is for young people to feel understood rather than judged.

Supporting my son through this journey inspired me to create Glow Project.

I wanted to build a place where young people who struggle within traditional education could access personalised support, rebuild their confidence and discover that learning can look different for everyone. A place where relationships come first, strengths are recognised, and every young person is given the opportunity to succeed in a way that works for them.

My background in vocational education has shown me that confidence often grows through practical learning, encouragement and positive relationships.

I believe every young person has unique talents and that, by focusing on those strengths, we can help them develop confidence, independence and belief in their future.

At Glow Project, our aim is not simply to provide an alternative to school.

We are here to help young people reconnect with education, develop emotional resilience, gain practical life and vocational skills, and build a future they can feel excited about.

I know how overwhelming it can feel when a child is struggling with education because I have lived it myself.

My promise is that every young person who comes to Glow Project will be treated with compassion, respect and the belief that they can achieve great things when given the right support.

I don't want young people to simply access education—I want them to rediscover confidence, recognise their strengths and believe in their future.
